Deadline updates, 2024–2025: First-year application trends through November 1

By November 1, 2024, 904,860 first-year applicants submitted 4,017,250 applications to 863 returning Common App member institutions. This reflects a 6% increase in applicants and a 10% rise in application volume compared to the previous year.

Some background on the students who applied:

• First-generation applicants grew by 19%, while continuing-generation applicants increased by 2%.
• Applicants from below median income ZIP codes grew by 11%, outpacing their peers from above-median income areas, who rose by 5%.
• Domestic applicant growth was fastest in the Southwest region. States like Texas and West Virginia are leading the way.
• International applicants increased by 5%, with notable growth from countries like Bangladesh, Rwanda, and Kazakhstan.
