Learn more about Common App’s new look and feel for 2025-2026
By Common App
April 24, 2025
Beginning on August 1, Common App will have a refreshed application experience that includes an updated visual design, creating a more usable and accessible application experience.
It’s important to note that while Common App will look different, its functions, how students navigate the application, and the steps they take to submit the application will remain the same. For example, the new look and feel will not impact the annual account rollover.
Why are we doing this?
As we kick off Common App’s 50th anniversary and a re-commitment to our mission, we’re excited to launch our 2025-2026 application with a refreshed look and feel.
Part of our ongoing work to expand access to more students from low- and middle-income communities is to simplify the application process, including a new visual design of the application itself.
What's changing?
In addition to an updated look and feel, we’re making small changes to the menu items students use to complete their application.
During recent student interviews, we found that the term “Common App” did not immediately resonate with students as they were scrolling and searching through menu items to complete a task. Based on this user testing and feedback, we are changing the name of the “Common App” menu item to “My Common Application” for easier navigation. “My Common Application” will also move before “My Colleges” in the main menu in an effort to help students understand where to start their application.

We will update our support resources and training videos to reflect these changes. We’re here to help our students and those who support them prepare for these changes and answer any questions they may have.
