Reminder: Common App system refresh

Each year, the Common App goes offline to get ready for the new application cycle.

The 2023-2024 first-year application will close for students and recommenders at 5 pm ET on July 28, and the transfer application will close for students and recommenders at 5 pm ET on July 29.

The 2024-2025 application will open on August 1.

While the system is offline, students can still find many ways to prepare for the upcoming application season:

• Explore over 1,000 unique colleges and universities that accept the Common App.
• Brainstorm ideas for the Common App essay. Need some inspiration on how to begin? Check out the 2024-2025 essay prompts and our resource on approaching the essay in English and Spanish. 
• Begin completing brag sheets. Our counselors, teachers, and family brag sheets help students gather important information about themselves to help those writing letters of recommendation on their behalf.
• College costs are at the front of many students’ minds. Learn how to make college more affordable.
