Christopher Newport University campus

Anchored in Excellence

At Christopher Newport, the focus is on learning how to think, and our graduates put this into practice in a wide range of fields, from business to computer science to foreign languages.

Regardless of your major, our emphasis on leadership, civic engagement, and honor across campus fosters good citizenship and prepares you to succeed. More than 90% of our graduates go on to full-time jobs or the graduate or professional school of their choice within six months of graduation.

Academics

Many of the top careers today didn’t exist 20 years ago. Studying the liberal arts and sciences provides the knowledge you need to take advantage of any opportunity in today’s global marketplace.

Through Christopher Newport’s rigorous curriculum, you will learn how to think critically and communicate effectively while developing the tools and skills that will serve you for a lifetime.

Most of our classes have fewer than 20 students and are taught by professors, not teaching assistants.  Our faculty are among the best in their fields, and students work side by side with them on research that advances knowledge.

We feel that a holistic review that encompasses all aspects of your background and application is the most effective method for finding students for whom Christopher Newport is the right fit. Typically, competitive transfer applicants present at least 12-15 credit hours of college–level credit with an earned cumulative GPA of 2.8.
