Emory & Henry University
Nestled in the Virginia mountains of Appalachian Highlands stands our nearly 350-acre Campus in Emory, the School of Health Sciences in Marion, and the Equestrian Center in Bristol. Beautiful and historic, our Emory Campus was founded in 1836—making us the first college in Southwest Virginia. We are devoted to the belief that education can have a transformational effect on an individual, a place and the wider world. Our campus is breathtaking—but we are more proud of our diverse, successful and happy graduates. We are ranked among the nation’s best private, liberal arts institutions—where comprehensive learning prepares students for the world.

“You must get up, rise up and focus–and when somebody asks you where you went to college, you stand tall and say, ‘Emory & Henry,’ in the prosperous, life-giving, music-shaking, soul-quaking, intellect-making hills of Southwest Virginia in Appalachia where America found her voice because unto those hills, through them and over them, came you.” Adriana Trigiani, best-selling author, film director, Southwest Virginia native and co-founder of The Origin Project, in her address to the graduating class of 2018.
