Application information

First-year

We practice holistic admission, reviewing applications for academic potential as well as personal qualities that would make the applicant a good fit for the Olin education and community. All students apply to Olin through our first year admission process. Those who are admitted and enroll at Olin start our curriculum from the beginning due to the highly interdisciplinary, collaborative and project-based nature of our unique academic program.

Application Process

Olin’s application process is unique; after reviewing applications, we invite about 300-325 applicants to participate in Candidates’ Weekends. This is an opportunity for both Olin to learn more about applicants, and for applicants to learn more about the Olin community, curriculum, and culture. All applicants who reach the second phase of the process are required to participate in Candidates’ Weekends, as the information gleaned provides the basis for final admission decisions.

The program will include both evaluative components as well as plenty of opportunities for Candidates to engage with our community and learn more about Olin.

Candidates' Weekends will take place in-person over three weekends in 2025: February 21-22, February 28-March 1, and March 7-8 beginning on Friday night and taking place all day Saturday. Applicants are invited to one of the three weekends and are required to attend to be considered for admission to Olin College of Engineering.

After Candidates' Weekends, the Admission Committee meets again and makes the final admission decisions. Candidates are notified of their decision by late March.
