Application information
First-year
All first year students are required to submit a portfolio. It is recommended that student submissions include a selection of 12-15 examples of their strongest and most recent artwork, reflecting interests, skills, and a willingness to explore, experiment, and express themselves. Student portfolios may concentrate on a single medium or may show a variety of media and should include work representing a sustained interest and/or development over time. Portfolios must be submitted digitally. Please apply using Common App, and a link will be provided to complete the portfolio process.
Transfer
All transfer students are required to submit a portfolio. Students who have not taken any studio art or design courses at the college level, should submit a portfolio of 15-20 examples of their strongest and most recent artwork. For students who have completed studio art or design courses at the college level, it may be appropriate to submit a portfolio with more than 15-20 examples of artwork, including 3-5 examples from each class. Portfolios must be submitted digitally. After submission of Common App, a link will be forwarded to complete the submission upload process.

Additional information
There are many opportunities to meet with a representative from MassArt both on-campus and across the country. Prospective students have the opportunity to visit with representatives on the MassArt campus in Boston, at portfolio days and college fairs, as well as high school fairs, transfer fairs, and conferences to learn about MassArt's academic programs, get details on the application process, and put a face to a name. In addition, MassArt offers virtual tours for those who cannot attend an in-person event or would just like to hear more about the MassArt experience. Students and families interested in MassArt are always encouraged to take advantage of MassArt's public events and exhibitions happening throughout the year.
