First-year

First-year applicants to Montserrat must complete high school (or the equivalency) by the time they enroll at the College, with proof in the form of an official transcript with a graduation date listed. Dual-enrolled students and/or students who intend to submit AP test scores are considered first-year applicants.

Transfer applicants have the same application requirements as First-year applicants, with the addition of their official college transcript(s). Montserrat accepts up to 60 college-level transfer credits (up to 30 studio art credits plus 30 liberal arts credits) in which a grade of C or higher is earned.

Additional information

Montserrat's areas of study include Animation and Interactive Media, Art Education, Book Arts, Graphic Design, Illustration, Interdisciplinary Arts, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Photography, Video and Film, with minors in Art Education, Art History, Creative Writing, Curatorial Studies, and Entrepreneurship in the Arts. The curriculum is structured around experiential learning, studio practice, liberal arts, and professional preparation.

Our 12-to-1 student-to-professor ratio allows Montserrat students to form meaningful relationships with our faculty of practicing artists, designers, and scholars. The faculty is deeply invested in our students’ artistic journeys, and Montserrat’s hands-on advising system ensures that every student stays on track and has access to our many resources (internships, travel abroad opportunities, mobility programs) during their time here. In addition to their dedication to teaching, all Montserrat faculty are active and accomplished artists in their fields.

Our Student Financial Services team is dedicated to helping families afford Montserrat. With Montserrat’s merit and need-based awards, the cost of attending Montserrat is often comparable to that of attending a state-supported college. Montserrat addresses financial need through a combination of Montserrat scholarships, federal grants and loans, and state and private grants and scholarships. All applicants receive merit scholarship consideration, and the vast majority of our applicants receive financial assistance through merit scholarships, financial aid awards or a combination of both.

To learn more about affordability, financial aid, and monthly tuition payment plans, please contact our Student Financial Services office at sfs@montserrat.edu or 978.921.4242 ext. 1174.
