Application information

First-year

Seattle University offers direct entry admission, meaning you can apply directly to your intended major, or select Undeclared. Some programs, have additional requirements or prerequisites; we encourage you to review them here before applying.

First-Year Application Deadlines:
• Early Action: November 15 (hear back by late December)
• Regular Decision: January 15 (hear back by early March)

The application fee is $60; fee waivers are available for those who qualify.

We review each student holistically and look forward to learning more about you through your application.

Transfer

If you’re currently in high school—even if you’re taking college classes or earning college credit—you’ll apply as a first-year student, not a transfer.

You’re a transfer student only if you’ve already graduated from high school and enrolled in college-level coursework at a regionally accredited college or university.

Seattle University does not accept the Common Application for transfer admission. If that’s you, learn more about applying via the Seattle University Transfer Application here.

The application fee is $60; fee waivers are available.

Additional information

At Seattle University, we’re committed to making a transformative education accessible and affordable. In 2024–25, 100% of first-time, first-year students were offered financial aid through a combination of merit scholarships, SU need-based grants, federal and state aid, and work study. The average total award was over $44,000 annually.

All applicants are automatically considered for merit scholarships, which range from $15,000–$32,000 per year and are renewable for up to four years. Merit aid is based on the admissions application—no separate form required.

We also encourage all eligible students to file the FAFSA or WASFA to be considered for need-based aid. Filing one of these forms is the best way to ensure you receive the maximum financial support available.

We guarantee that the amount you receive in institutional gift aid from Seattle University will remain constant for up to four years of eligibility.
