The College of Idaho

The College of Idaho campus
Founded in 1891, The College of Idaho is the state's oldest private liberal arts college. The C of I has a legacy of academic excellence, a winning athletics tradition and a history of producing successful graduates. The College of Idaho offers a dynamic and rigorous academic experience, blending a rich liberal arts tradition with innovative, hands-on learning opportunities.  Its Do MORE in Four academic approach sees students attending class four days a week, taking four classes a term, and in some cases completing a bachelor's and master's degree in four years.  With Fridays off, students have more time for research, internships, athletic competition, and any other meaningful activity.  C of I students enjoy small classes taught by outstanding professors, a close-knit and diverse student body of approximately 1,100, a multitude of competitive NAIA athletics programs, outstanding visual and performing arts activities, and a beautiful residential campus.

Application information

First-year

We look at every application and consider all of your academic and extracurricular achievements — not just your GPA or test scores. In fact, we have a standardized test-optional admission process, which means you don't have to submit ACT or SAT scores when you apply here.

Factors We Consider

There are no minimum scores or grades. However, these are the factors we look at when making admissions decisions:

  • Overall high school academic record
  • Recommendation letters
  • Co-curricular activities
  • Community involvement
  • Writing ability
  • Other achievements
  • Any advanced placement (AP) or international baccalaureate (IB) credits

Transfer

All transfer admissions are rolling admission.  The transfer application can be found on our website at collegeofidaho.edu/apply.  Under Rolling Admission, students are invited to submit their applications at any time over a large window. The College will consider these applications as they arrive.

Additional information

Financial assistance at The College of Idaho comes in several forms: merit-based scholarships, talent-based scholarships, need-based aid, federal loans and grants.  Each student is automatically considered for a merit-based scholarship when they apply for admission.  Talent scholarships are awarded based on performance and participation in athletics and fine arts programs that the applicant hopes to pursue at the College.  Need-based and federal aid is granted based on a student's demonstrated need and eligibility indicated on their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
