Application information

First-year

Apply as a first-year student if you will soon be a high school graduate who has never enrolled at a college or university. (Don’t count college classes you may have taken in high school.)

November 1 is key!
  • We must receive your complete application by November 1 if you wish to be considered for most university merit scholarships.
  • And if you wish to be considered for Honors and Scholars Programs, the Morrill Scholarship Program, and College of Engineering majors, we strongly recommend meeting the November 1 deadline.
Meeting this early action deadline also means you'll get an earlier admissions decision!

Transfer

Students interested in transferring to Ohio State should not use the Common Application. Please head over to undergrad.osu.edu/transfer for a link to our transfer application. There you’ll find deadlines, requirements and enrollment criteria for your major.

P.S. A third of the undergraduates who received a bachelor’s degree from Ohio State last year were transfer students. Regardless of where you started college, you can graduate a Buckeye!

Remember:
  • First-year students admitted to the Columbus campus for autumn semester are automatically considered for most merit scholarships if we received your complete application by our November 1 early action deadline (larger awards require additional steps; see meritawards.osu.edu).
  • To receive the most financial aid, file the FAFSA and apply for scholarships at ScholarshipUniverse by Ohio State's priority financial aid deadline (get details).
