Applicants are considered first-time freshmen if the students’ first enrollment at a college/university, excluding summer, will occur at UTD within two years of graduating from high school or if they earn college credit before high school graduation.

Applicants are reviewed individually and holistically. Consideration is given to factors such as overall grades in academic coursework and trends in achievement; strength of high school curriculum, including level of rigor (AP, IB, dual credit); high school rank and GPA; SAT or ACT test scores, if available; ability to be successful in the intended major; and information provided in the resume, essay and/or letters of recommendation.

Additional information

At UT Dallas, 65% of our undergraduate students receive need- or merit-based financial aid. The Office of Financial Aid helps to remove financial barriers, assists students with the cost of attendance and strives to provide students with the federal, state and institutional financial assistance. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available online at fafsa.gov. Residents of Texas who are ineligible to receive federal aid may qualify for assistance through the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA). Information for eligibility is available at www.collegeforalltexans.com. Learn about deadlines and financial aid opportunities at utdallas.edu/finaid.

Each prospective freshman student admitted to UT Dallas by the priority admission deadline is automatically reviewed for an Academic Excellence Scholarship (AES) award, based on academic accomplishments, community involvement, leadership and distinction in extracurricular activities, work experiences and/or national recognition or achievement. Scholarships are subject to fund availability, and some scholarship programs provide funding throughout the student’s undergraduate or graduate career provided the student meets continuing eligibility requirements. Learn more about these and other scholarships at utdallas.edu/scholarships.
